Sara

Sarah

Following a cardiac arrest, Sara was initially treated in Poole hospital. She was then admitted to Glenside in February 2008, before transferring to Horizon Close in 2009.

The residents of Horizon Close each live in a private bungalow, with ensuite bedroom, kitchen and living space with access via their own individual front door, simulating an independent home environment, with support on hand when required.

Sara said “Moving to the Horizon bungalows has given me a degree of independence not easily available elsewhere. I can do my own cooking, washing and cleaning which is important to me.

I enjoy the community trips, particularly going into town, where the therapy team support me to go shopping semi-independently.

I have made a lot of friends during my time at Glenside and have been able to support others during their time here. Some people come back to visit me and I keep in touch with others who now live back in their local community.

I still suffer from random bouts of epilepsy which has meant that I cannot live completely independently, so Glenside offers me the ideal place to stay, until I can find somewhere similar nearer to my family.”
